February 14-18
Our basketball teams finished up the season yesterday with wins. The boys played McAlester and won 31-22, and the girls finished up the with a win, 19-11, against Ardmore. Congratulations to our SMS basketball teams!
National School Counselor Week is February 7-11. SMS wants to take the time and give a special shout-out to our amazing school counselor, Mrs. Cummins. She has a kind, caring, thoughtful heart that she shares with her students and colleagues on a daily basis. SMS truly appreciates everything that you do Mrs. Cummins and we are blessed to have you at our school.

The Window is open for yearbooks to be ordered. Chieftain Chapters covers buildings BLS, Wilson, Northwood, and MS.
Last day to order yearbooks will be May 15th. Online orders only.
Our SMS 7th graders are finishing taking their second NWEA test this week in Reading and Math.
Several of our 8th graders were selected to take the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). Families were notified by mail if their students was selected to take the assessment. This assessment will take place on February 23rd here at Seminole Middle School. The assessment will be administered by the National Center for Education Statistics, within the U.S. Department of Education. Students will be assessed in mathematics or reading and there will be other voluntarily survey questions. If you have any questions feel free to contact Mr. Carter or Mrs. Cummins.
Our SMS 8th Graders have the opportunity to participate in Oklahoma Prevention Needs Assessment (PNA) on February 2, 2022. It is through the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. There is a copy of the survey in the middle school office for parents to look over. For questions feel free to contact Mr. Carter or Mrs. Cummins.
Our 8th Grade SMS students took the Pre Act Test in December. It consists of a Math, Reading, English and Science test. The Test also has a Career component to discover our student's interests. We are going over their Career Interest Inventory and scores and how it relates to college entrance requirements. Their score report will be coming home this week.

SMS is super proud of our 7th and 8th grade weightlifters! They competed in the Strother Weight Meet today. Way to go, boys!
We will be back in-person learning tomorrow. Make sure all devices and power cords are returned. Please also make sure that work from last week has been completed and submitted.
